Routine Restorative dental care is provided to a high
standard utilising the best materials available. We offer a full
range of more advanced restorative techniques including white
fillings and porcelain inlays or veneers for teeth which may be
more broken down. In addition bridges can be designed to replace
missing teeth and thus avoid wearing dentures. Other cosmetic
services are available such as tooth whitening to help improve
the colour of teeth.
Fear prevents many people from seeking help. We fully appreciate
the real difficulties that some patients may have and can
therefore offer sedation to help such patients cope with
treatment.
Endodontics or root canal therapy can allow the preservation of
many badly broken down or abscessed teeth, which would otherwise
be lost.
Around 90% of adults have some degree of gum disease. Our
hygienist treats this, and helps to prevent it from advancing.
Implants
Stephen Shaffery is a member of the Association of Dental Implantology and specialises in this area of dentistry. We are one of only a few Practices in Nottingham who receives Implant Referrals.
Dental implants are artificial tooth roots enabling teeth to be replaced permanently. They can be used to replace single teeth or groups of missing teeth, eliminating the need for dentures.
If you have missing teeth, or already have
dentures which are perhaps uncomfortable or cause you
embarrassment, implants can be the ideal alternative. Dental
implants bond and integrate with living bone to provide stable
and permanent fixtures for crowns and bridges and dentures.
Unlike conventional bridges it is not necessary to grind or cut
the adjacent teeth and implants help prevent thinning and
shrinkage of the jawbone which occurs when teeth are lost.
Like artificial joints, dental implants are made of titanium.
They are placed into the jawbone and left to bond with the bone
for a few months after which they can used in the same way as a
natural tooth root to support crowns bridges or dentures.
Implants need to be cared for carefully and our hygenists help
patients with implants to look after them effectively. With
care, implants can be expected to last many years.
They will check the gum around every tooth to see if there has
been any advanced gum disease. They will also record all the
areas where there is any pocketing.
